Located just 3km. from Monteverde Reserve, is the most important Crafts Centre int he area, offering gifts inspired by the natural charm of Monteverde. The majority of our prodcuts are handmade bythe local artisans, often using raw materials indigenous to the area, so every purchase you make aids the sustainability of our community. you are also contributing to the livehood of impovershed local families who benefit from the income generated at CASEM COOP.

Our selection of gifts includes: decorative wall hangings, cards, pottey, jewellery, toys, bookmarks, tableclothes and clothing. We also offer unique woodwork with delicately hand-tooled designs that retain the natural beauty of the wood grain. We also have a workshop offering you an opportunity to observe some of our artisans painting, sewing, crafting and designing our products.

CASEM COOP was founded was founded by eight women in 1982 and has since has grown to eighty-nine women and three men. CASEM COOP is a non profit organisation which aims to provide local women with an opportunity to gain independence and learn new skills. From the proceeds of our sales we finance training programs which allows us to develop our range of skills and learn how to make new articles.

The articles we produce come from sustainable local raw materials. The income generated is channelled back to impoverished families in the community and in this way we strive to sustain the local economy whilst bearing in mind the importance of ecological and socioeconomic issues.

Many of our artisans, who live in and around Monteverde, are able to work from home, and they enjoy increased self-steem and independence as well as the ability to support their families through the sale of their crafts.
